Welcome from Pedro Wrobel | Chief Executive

Thank you for your interest in joining Waverley Borough Council. This is an incredibly exciting time to join us, as we work alongside neighbouring Guildford Borough Council to bring our services closer together under a single management team.

Guildford and Waverley have a great deal in common and are natural partners in so many ways. By working closely as a team, we can make the most of our collective resources, work more efficiently, and improve services for our residents.

We are a local authority that focuses on the local. Everything we do is for the benefit of our residents, and putting people at the heart of our work is critical to our future success.

As Chief Executive, I am committed to fostering a culture of collaboration, growth, and inclusivity, where every member of staff feels valued, empowered and inspired to do their best. I am fortunate that both councils are full of wonderful people, whose warmth, passion and dedication help to make Guildford and Waverley such fantastic places to live, work and do business. Together, we have what it takes to make a huge, positive difference in our local communities.

Welcome from Susan Sale | Strategic Director of Legal and Democratic Services

Thank you for your interest in our roles in Legal Services at Waverley Borough Council.

Waverley Borough Council is committed to the provision of in-house Legal Services.  We have recently made a significant financial investment into our Legal Services team and substantially increased the number of posts.  This is an exciting development given the recognised financial pressures across Local Government as a whole and demonstrates the value we place in first-class Legal Services.

Information Governance is a key part of our remit, but our Legal Services function is varied, covering Contracts, Litigation, Licensing, Planning and Property Law. We are seeking to undertake a significant improvement in the delivery of our services to our clients, while supporting long term career development at Waverley.  Working with us means that we invest in you and your career in a fair and flexible working environment.

Waverley is primarily a rural borough with a population of approximately 123,000. It has plenty of character with lively thriving market towns and a diverse business community, as well as some of the most beautiful green spaces in the Southeast. At Waverley Borough Council, we contribute to local communities and make a difference to those who live and work in the Borough. We are a borough with big ambitions, clear values and a good track record in delivering for our residents and businesses.  We established a Joint Management Team with Guildford in 2021 and we are further developing our collaborative relationship with colleagues at Guildford. By sharing opportunities, we can continue to develop, sustain and improve local services, while taking action to address the climate emergency and manage public finances to provide value for money.

You can read more about us in our “Join our Team”. You can also find out more about the role on offer in this microsite. We are an inclusive and disability confident employer, signatories of the Armed Forces Covenant and we welcome applications from those who may traditionally disadvantaged in the workplace.

Successful candidates will not only be able to fulfil the requirements of the roles, but we  expect you to share our values and passion for shaping our Legal Services structure.  If these opportunities excite and interest you, we would be delighted to hear from you.
